Training Program

SWAP organizes various trainings for the HIV support group and self help groups who
are vendors of SWAP products. The trainings serves to build their capacity and help them to become more effective vendors.

Outreach and Mobilization

SWAP creates awareness to HIV support groups and builds their capacity.
Groups targeted are widows, people living with HIV, home based care groups, youth groups, orphan support groups and other self help groups.

Our Microfinance Services

SWAP is offering microfinance services of savings and loans to HIV support groups who are vendors of safe water and health products. SWAP is working with K-REP, one of the leading microfinance organizations in Kenya. Krep’s microfinance officers will join the field officers and introduce the concept of microfinance and explain the groups the procedures of registration. Groups need to be registered with the Ministry of Culture and Social Services in order to qualify for registration.

Cholera Response Project

The purpose of this project is to provide a rapid integrated response to cholera outbreaks to reduce morbidity and mortality, and prevent the spread of illness. The project was initiated in 2006 with funding from Global Disease Detection and the Integrated Diseases Surveillance and Response programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To implement this project, SWAP partners with the Kenyan Ministry of Health, Population Services International (PSI), and the Red Cross.

Product Promotion

SWAP promotes and sells safe water and health product at subsidized price to the HIV support groups and self help groups. The groups buy the products at wholesale price and sell at retail price.

Scholarship Program

SWAP has been supporting 31 orphans with secondary school fees and requirements.

They have been supported from form 1 till form 4 and will receive an additional year of vocational training. A training was organized for them to help them cope with being an orphan. Most of them live with guardians or aging grand parents.

Emergency Response

The above response started during the post election violence whereby SWAP was supporting internally displaced and returnees with health products, material support and counseling. The main aim was to prevent diarrhea, malaria and other infections.

Exhibitions and Public Functions

SWAP participates in many occasions and has exhibitions and promotion of health products during hand washing day, international water day, NGO week, Agriculture Show and World AIDS Marathon
